Comparison make things worse!

"How many A's did you get for your O-Level or A-Level result?" This questions was often raise during the day's that the results of students are released. This is a normal phenomena in our society today. When you grew slightly older, let say 23-35 years old,  people or one's relative might ask "Which company are you working for? And what is your position in your company?". From the statement above which I had mention, the purpose behind it is merely to ask, and to compare.

During this modern world, people's main goal including myself, is to chase after wealth.  After the things we want have attain, we will start to compare with our friends surrounding us or people around us. Many peoples have certain level of egoism. We tend to compare the things we have with our peers. To a certain extend, we do not want people better than us. We want to be a bright and shinning starts among our peers. We want people to look us as a king. We want to get praises from others. We concern our status in the society. Often, we forget our dignity. Pride often wiped out the humility that a person should have.

This reminds me about someone who said: "I hate to become a loser! I prefer to be a winner!" Pride often seems important in our society today. This is not the shocking part of it! The most shocking part is a particular lecturer of mine once told me this: "I just don't feel good when I see someone better than me." If we really observe, we start to realized that we are busy chasing something in order to gain respects, pride and status in the society, in turn, it create emptiness in our life.

Now, it does not mean that all the respect that we get is based on the factors that I have mention earlier.  Some respect that we gain most probably come from our sincere contribution to certain matters in the society, such as helping the poor, or contribution to the society. All this respect that gain from your sincere heart contribution, in return, these respects can last forever. But, if we think that the comparison of wealth between people around us can bring us to a higher level of the society,I would say that all the respect that we gain will not last long forever. Sometimes they might create hatred between your peers. In addition, pride often bring us far from God, and the kingdom of God which God has prepared all of us.

Comparison always make things worse!

Today, let us be our true self, to do the things that we are suppose to do. To do the things that we have and obligated to do. Let us not let the pride of our sins to close us and hovered over us. Let us do not compare each other in the society and appreciate what we have and give thanks to the Lord.

Divine Mercy Sunday

Source: Catholic Web

Today is the day where the Catholic Church celebrate the feast day of Divine Mercy, as recorded in the diary of Saint Faustina, receives from Jesus himself the biggest promise of Grace related to the devotion of Divine Mercy. The church usually will celebrate it on the Sunday after Easter, the octave of Easter. The devotion was actively promoted by Pope John Paul II.

The Divine Mercy Sunday is a Roman Catholic devotion to the merciful love of God and the desire to let that love and mercy flow through one's own heart towards those in need of it. The devotion is due to the apparitions of the Lord, Jesus received by Saint Mary Faustina Kowalska, who is known as the Apostle of Mercy.

Faustina Kowalska reported a number of apparitions, visions and conversations with Jesus which she wrote in her diary, and later published as the book : Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul. The three main themes of the devotion are to ask for and obtain the mercy of God, to trust in Christ's abundant of mercy, and finally to show mercy to others and act as a conduit for God's mercy towards them.

Stretch a bit !

This semester, the word "Pressure" didn't seem to loose sight from us. Our whole team, who are graduating soon, tend to feel the great pinch of pressure that coming from our assignments, thesis, presentation and etc.
Most of us, tend to stay up until late night just to rush for the project just in case that we get penalize from our lecturer.

Yes,undeniable! Is never easy being a university student. But, I start to realized that, to certain extend we need some sort of pressure to keep us going. Instead of standing at our own comfort zone, we must try to stretch ourselves to a certain extend, of course that extend for one could stand, so that we might gain exposure to various things. Sometimes we might develop our new potential of skills.

Pressure sometimes it may sound negative. Perhaps I should rephrase it in a way that,  the negative side of this word has more impact compare to the positive side, in regards with the pressure that we are facing in this modern world . Often, this is a cause that makes people give up their dreams or their target easily. To be frank, I should say pressure might demotivate me in a certain way. But, now I have a different way of thinking.

Pressure sometimes should motivate me to attain my goals instead of giving up easily. We should work our very best, and leave the rest to God. I'm sure according to His will, He will lead us the way.
